Intel fortran and kernel 2.6?
|

| Hi there,
Does intel fortran work well with kernel 2.6
like to one coming with Mandrake 10?
At intel web, it says only up to kernel 2.4.
Thank you!

I've been running ifort on a 2.6-based machine since it was released --
no problems whatsoever.
cheers,

I have been running both version 7.1 and 8.0 with no problems at all.
There's a minor issue with running the debugger in GUI mode. Actually
it occurs to me to ask if anyone else sees this (or is running
Mandrake and *doesn't* see it!). The symptoms are invisible text in
the source and debugger interaction windows.

I'll note as a completely unsupported generalization that compilers are
more likely to be sensitive to the versions of clib than to versions of
the kernel.
Not that I'd place large bets based solely on that generalization.

For all I know, the OP thought in terms of glibc versions being inextricably
linked with kernel versions, or was influenced by the command to display
kernel version being shorter than the one for glibc.
