Author link f77l3-obj using lf95?

After getting help some time ago here on c.l.f I managed to
compile a very old code which used some f77l3 extensions. Now
I am stuck again. In the final step of a long and tedious
install an object file supplied from elsewhere must be link
together with some new files. The supplied file is complied
(I guess) using f77l3 and lf95 refuses to link it with the
error message "object file is corrupt or the format is wrong".
No source file is available so I can't recompile it. Can
lf95 be forced to link the object file in some compatibility mode?
I have searched the documentation with little success.

Yours
