That's because you didn't search for the appropriate word.

As you well know, generic user procedures have been demonstrated
here on more than one occasion. They have been part of the PL/I
language since 1966.
..
To find out what is in the language, you need to RTM --
not a newsgroup.

Does anyone know what appropriate word he's talking about that
leads to a "more than one occasion" demo in a archive search?

"XXXXwit" would probably do the trick. You'd find it in the archives of
this group pretty often.
