Author A specialising simulator generator for generative code

A friend just pointed me to,

"Generative Code Specialisation for High-Performance Monte-Carlo Simulations"
http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~dons/papers/SCKCB07.html

Choice sentences from the abstract are,

"The core tenet is that, given a fixed simulator configuration, a
generator in a functional language can produce low-level code that is
more highly optimised than a manually implemented generic simulator."

"We show that it is possible to outperform low-level languages with
functional programming in domains with very stringent performance
requirements if the domain also demands generality."

I found it quite interesting and figured that this group as a whole
might find it encouraging and stimulating.
