That depends. I was able to install Fujitsu 5 using wine on a 32-bit
install of Ubuntu. However, I haven't gotten wine to run on my laptop,
as it's 64-bit, but wine is 32. (I know it can be done, I just haven't
gotten around to trying to make it work. I still don't have the
wireless LAN coming up on boot... :> )

Well, there's the catch. Those applications running under wine would
probably not work. However, there is an application called CrossOver
Office that supplies much more Windows compatibility, albeit for a fee.
Another option is VMWare - you can actually make a virtual machine and
install Windows into it. Then, you're running two machines on one.
This has the advantage of fewer boxes, and you can hit the Linux
webserver from Windows, and the Windows server from Linux. Of course,
you need lots of RAM, and you're not avoiding running a copy of Windows.

That depends on what sort of application you're writing. You can write
Access database or Excel files using ODBC drivers. However, if you're
getting any deeper than that (macros, etc.), you'll probably want to run
the real deal. I haven't tried it, but I don't imagine it would be all
that successful. :)

Make it a web-based service. Web browsers work on Windows, Mac, Linux,
etc. :)
