So, knowing that there is a problem (thin ice) and doing nothing
absolves you of negligence? In the UK, the sign indicates knowledge
and the accident indicates negligence. The sign 'beware of the dog'
does not absolve you from responsibility for the dog's actions. It
just makes your payout to the burglar so much bigger.
