From this quarter, at least, support continues to be expressed.
May the superiority of the outcome be readily apparent to all.

Thanks for the updated information. Our family is praying, and
hopefully the people who read my blog will be soon...

Thank you so much for your prayers and support.
We saw the doctor today and the baby is still alive and the heart beat is
normal. I guess the baby gets a lot of nourishment from the amniotic fluid,
so even if it survives it will not grow at a normal rate. He has never seen
a case like ours where the baby survived.
There is a birth defect also. I was hoping that was a misread of the
sonogram or at least only a mild form. Well I based that on the preliminary
report that I saw, but today I got a copy of a more detailed report and it
is pretty serious. Well even the less serious form is life-threatening and
requires an operation at birth. The muscles in the abdomen did not close so
there is a hole (hernia) and some bowel and part of the liver are
protruding. Parts of the bowel have problems and the whole protrusion is
inside a sack. He said in his opinion that this happened because it is
natures' way of not giving us a baby with serious birth defect(s). Actually
25% to 40% of babies with this defect have other defects as well.
Well no matter the trouble we still hope and pray for the life of our baby.

Humans and Science are constantly striving for supremacy over Nature...
and the Humans have done a pretty good job of it, especially in recent
history; compare average life expectancy (excluding infant mortality) in
1900 to 2000 and the numbers may astonish you.
On the other hand... Nature has been playing this game a lot longer than
Humans; She might have gained some wisdom in Her struggles, as well.
For those who wish to bring a Deity of some sort into this... there's an
old joke with the punchline of 'I sent two boats and a helicopter, what
more did you want?'... and, perhaps now, it is 'I sent amniotic rupture at
17 w s and several major birth defects'.
May the superiority of the outcome be readily apparent to all.

The latest update on the baby is that we saw the doctor today and the baby
still has a normal heartbeat, and there is no sign of any infection so far.
Thanks to all for your prayers, support, kind words or thoughts.
