Most of the leaders who doubted global warming a decade ago not only
accept its reality but also accept that man has contributed to it.
That doesn't mean they do or even should accept some of the costs that
go along with some of the proposals to lessen its rate.
Some scientists have pointed to the climate changes over the centuries
due to irrigation - which used to be limited to a few parts of the
world, but which are now of global scale. Roads, highways, farming -
and possibly over-fishing do change the environment. Compared to
them, controlling CO2 is cheap & easy - but is it sufficient?
It may be that any long term solution that doesn't involve population
control will require a much wealthier world.
