An update to my post from about a month ago regarding Fujitsu ADO ...
The example posted by Frederico in "Using ADO with Fujitsu NETCOBOL"
(faq209-5475 at http://www.tek-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=5475) provided
enough sample code to get me into our MS SQL server with Fujitsu v6.1.
Thanks Frederico for providing the sample code (and also for your tip
about options in Ghost). And thanks Peter for your reassurance also.

Glad I could help.

If you have any issues with using ADO or indeed any other control with
Fujitsu do ask here, as there are some lousy tricks required with some
of them.
