"Due to the resignation of the current JTC 1/SC 22/WG 4 Convener, Mr. Charles
Stevens, this call for volunteers to serve as the US candidate for JTC 1/SC
22/WG 4 Convener is being issued to the members of INCITS/J4 to identify a US
candidate for endorsement and will close on July 23, 2006. "

Although I have NOT heard it officially, "our friend" (from CLC) Chuck Stevens
(along with "many others at Unisys) were laid off last w . Hopefully, Chuck
will get a new email ID (and a new job <G> ) and let us know more.
I know our thoughts are all with him at this time.

Agreed. Our well wishes go out to him at this time.
Don Schricker (M/F) gone in April, (well apparently he is
stand-in/alternate for Karlin's Korner).
Huib Klink (M/F) - they are just waiting to see if he or somebody else
shows up at J4. M/F representation - none in May, next is July followed
by October - if they are a 'no show' in October - forfeit membership.
Chuck - Unisys gone both J4 and WG4 - with cutbacks will Unisys bother
with an alternative member ?
Little difficult to imagine that there will be another standard beyond
COBOL 2002.

Crap... and people ask me 'don't you worry, since you're a
consultant/contractor/hired gun, about Job Security?'
May those who decided to terminate what appears, by the postings here, to
deprive the company of a knowledgable, competent, dedicated and long-term
asset such as this get the kind of return on their action that is
appropriate... doubled.

During my tenure at Unisys, Chuck was a friend, confidant, co-worker,
politcal and religious sparring partner, and more. Even the days (and
nights!) I spent patching perfectly good picture clauses to adapt to his
change in manual insertion editing didn't diminish my appreciation of
Chuck's dedication to the Unisys customer base.
