| We are looking to avoid the runtime licenses which prompted the message. I
mainly intended to use extfh to ease the conversion (ISAM to ISAM instead of
export and import). Its not necessary but thought it would be helpful. Since
I still own the NE licenses, I believe this is fair use -- but its late and
I haven't fully though it through.
These applications are Windows based (win2k/2003). I assume the isam handler
can address large files there also. I've though about the FairCom Ctree but
have no development experience with them.
Thank you for your input Richard. ray

| Raymond,
Do you know what (if anything) are the run-time licensing fees for
distributing EXTFH - to a "non-Micro Focus" environment? I do NOT know (and
this may well depend upon what country you are in and what version of the MF
product you have). However, it is also possible that there are some restrictions
worth considering BEFORE you decide that this is the way to go.

| Hi Bill,
I dont know for sure either. Since I own the developer license, using extfh
as part of a conversion (single user on the development machine where NE was
installed), it was fair use in my mind. Obviously their mind may have a
different idea. I froze at 3.1 pre-sp1 so I guess i could use the amnesty
path (I dont make a million dollars and didnt sell this for more than
$2,000).
I was really kicking around the idea of cutting out the conversion
middle-step (read MF8, write sequential, read sequential, write 'other isam
variant'). I wish I could just use the data files as-is but now I'm just
talkin crazy :)
