Just so everyone knows: my sister-in-law (who works in a medical
practice but is neither a doctor nor a nurse) said to

the burn in
cold water and then to wrap it in clingfilm. Wrapping in clingfilm
stops oxygen getting to the burn and stops the sensation of pain. BTW,
it does work.

However, if the skin has been burned off then the best advice is to do
nothing to the burn and definitely do not put anything on it.
