Just read your blog about Cindy Sheehan (that's two of us now). I agree
with you whole-heartedly. We have people in the UK behaving much as CS
is in the US and their message appears to be "bring the boys home now".
Is it just me or do others feel that by withdrawing now then we will
disrespect the sacrifices made by servicemen already?

Bullshit. They need to be refuelled and replaced at frequent intervals.
Ascention is the closest base that would accept Allied forces, the US
would not get a closer one, and it required the longest operational
flight ever to get a bomber down there.

An E-3 Sentury AWACS has a range of 1000 miles for a 6 hour patrol.
>From Ascension to Falklands is 3250 NM or 6050 km. To get one Vulcan

over Falklands for 10 minutes required 28 refuelling sorties, the
refuellers needed refueling on the way out and back.

While it may be true that an E-3 can fly anywhere it can only do so if
it can land or be refuelled in order to be able to get back to
somewhere it can land. Same with refuellers. An E-3 can fly direct to
Iraq because it can have a full refueller waiting in Europe.

> Come to think of it, there would only be one religion,

Well, exactly. That there were and are several thousands of
incompatible and varied religions merely indicates that they are all in
the same box: groups of people at various times in the past and present
that just makes stuff up 'cause it sounds like a really good idea. The
deities mostly did exist: Zeus, Ra, Woden, Jehovah, Bhrama, Baal, Ras
Tafari, Hirohito, as a whole raft of territorial leaders, ancestors,
warlords, emperors, around which stories were woven and deification
occurred.

I stand corrected, thanks. Strange that the French produced a missile
that exposes pilots to such danger.

Judson's statement is not incompatible with the term. However, those of
a religious mind may find the "Unlike you..." presumptious and
offensive.

Doc, we don't have a King of England (or Scotland...). I do recall,
although my memory is imperfect, that you have previously claimed that
title for yourself.

Wrong accent. Most likely to be a Cockney.

Plural majestatus est, Mr Maclean... as my Drill Sergeant used to say,
'Who 'we', you got a mouse in your pocket?'

Claimed and demonstrated, as documented in

We have found it best to use the practises of equal-accent-opportunity
employment.

I doubt that any apology is really necessary (except to those of the
most sensitive egotistical state of mind). We are all guilty of
unfortunate phrasing, me especially.
