Have you re-applied your changes to the Makefile supplied with Oracle
10, or are you using your makefile which was based on Oracle 9? If the
latter, I would suggest the former approach, as there's no guarantee
that the build instructions will be 100% compatible between Oracle releases.
Out of interest, which platform are you running on, and are you
attempting to link using 32-bit or 64-bit Oracle client libraries?

In view of the 'other Topic', Wiggy are you boastin' or complainin' :-)
Still love the product Simon.

And quite rightly Simon is not getting involved; it just isn't his
domain. It has to reach "the buck stops here" and that is Tony Hill, the
CEO.

I'm . How is supplying a contact-point of someone in the company
who might be able to assist customers/potential customers who have
questions about the product out of *any* employee's domain?

Rather precise division of labor you seem to have there, Mr Gavan.

And if you read the result of the 'Other topic' - would have been a
complete bloody waste of time working your way up through
intermediaries. Had Simon chosen to oblige your request, he may have
offered several names, pertinent to the problem - possibly John Billman
(don't know his title - but Manager Program/Software Development, based
in Newbury), or Alan Wheeler in California ( the admin man who runs the
Micro Focus Forum) and appears to be the official 'mouthpiece' on
announcements on runtime issues.
It was quite clear this was one where you want the 'Chief' and not the
'Indians'. Written about 10pm, I had a reply the following morning
without Tony Hill having to consult with anybody. Possibly he whisked
off a quick quiz to John Billman, before replying to me; there again
John may just have appeared in his response as a cc'd - for info.
Besides which no harm starting at the top of the tree and with his help
working your way down through the tree - if the latter move was relevant
- which I've indicated wasn't, from his response.
Now if we were talking IBM - where do you start ? There are fewer
players in Micro Focus, so you get to know of them, at least by name,
after some years - assuming you communicate with one or two, (very, very
occasionally) - other names pop-up in their replies.

'If you read', Mr Gavan, would seem to require that said result had been
available to read when I made my request. Interesting consideration of
the space-time continuum you seem to have, as well.

Had he done so he might have offered a variety of things... but the past
subjunctive is rather unjustifiable. Either he did or he didn't... and up
to now he hasn't.

Isn't the Chief an Indian, too? Aside from that... there are times that
I've found it is more productive to speak with the CEO's secretary than to
speak with the CEO; I guess that my having learnt this makes me prone
towards 'complete bloody waste(s) of time'.
On the other hand, Mr Gavan, I am patient... I've found that Important
People are in a great hurry and I am not one of Them; there's nobody
waiting for me on the operating-room table, I'm not trying to get a load
of plague-serum to the disease-ravaged Outer Colonies... I'se jes' a
COBOL-codin' fool and if making a posting wastes my time then... well, I
guess I'm that much closer to death without having done something really
Important.
Care to join me in a cup of tea and some sweet, melancholic speculation
about the Futility of Activity?
