Of course you didn't establish that the saving was only of '50
nanoseconds' which was purely an exageratedly small figure that you
invented to make it easier to support your bias.

50 nanosec is around the figure for a single memory cycle (on machines
of 233 FSB).

So each and every memory cycle saved (where an instruction may take
several cycles) results in saving 8 minutes. Save a handful of
instructions and it is soon measured in hours.
