Delay of Release of PPI for May 2004
The Producer Price Index (PPI) for May 2004, originally scheduled for
release on June 11, has been postponed until further notice.
BLS staff are working to resolve the unexpected difficulties in
calculating the index this month.
A revised release date has not yet been set but could be no earlier
than Tuesday, June 15. When a revised release date for the May 2004
PPI has been determined, it will be announced at least one day ahead
of time on this web page and through a news advisory.
The BLS expresses its apologies to those who experience any problems
as a result of this delay.

Sounds like after *they* can't fake the numbers anymore, *they* will
simply stop publishing the stats altogether. (except fer fellow
robbers, off course)
Merkans will have to use dead-reckoning, ear-to-the-ground and wet
finger tip fer direction.
How peculiar, reallly!

On the news: the gold index (GOX) plummeted to 73.88 from 77.69 while the 10
year Treasury index (TNX) edged up to 48.12 from 47.71. These are sure signs of
either a) a stronger dollar, b) no change in the core inflation rate of 2%/year
and/or c) the markets don't know jack about what's gonna happen.
Of course, if the bad guys nuke the G8 meeting in Atlanta, conditions could
rapidly destabilize.
Readers should consider going to cash and waiting this one out.

Sea Island isn't in Atlanta - it's way down south, off the coast. :)

Having lived in JAX for a year, I know SE Georgia geography. I thought it was in
Atlanta because a news story described State of Emergency there.
Talk about lumping us all together, when I was in Lubbock yankees would ask
whether I was familiar with so-and-so in Houston, more than 500 miles away. I
responded by asking whether they knew Washington DC. After they said no, I'd
point out it's half the distance.

Half the distance from ... yankeeland?
People do this all the time, e.g., you're from NYC - do you know my
cousin Tony? Or, you were in the Army - do you know my cousing Tony?

We still get the odd person from England visiting Halifax or Toronto
that wants to do a short side-trip to Vancouver. We point out that it
would be closer to take a side trip to London, at least from Halifax. I
think Toronto is about mid-point.
Foreign countries are always "further away". I grew up 30 miles from
Buffalo, but still considered it like the other side of the moon.
Toronto, at 90 miles, was "local".
