Author Help needed with IFKCBL00

Hi,

I am currently building a new Tur(n)key MVS system - i.e. an MVS 3.8
system that runs on any Windows or Linux system, also on Macintosh.
The software is 25 to 30 years old, and it is difficult to get hold of
relevant documentation.

Among others I have a COBOL compiler, program name IKFCBL00. The
compiler heading contains

CB545 V2 LVL78 01MAY72 IBM OS AMERICAN NATIONAL
STANDARD COBOL DATE APR 5,1904

My question: Is there a manual or two around for this compiler,
manuals that I could beg/borrow/steal/copy to provide some
documentation to this compiler?

Volker,
What you have is ANS COBOL V2 ( V4 was the last version of the ANS COBOL
product). That product was followed by OS/VS COBOL (and Release 2.4 was the
last release of that). All of these used the "IKFCBL00" program name.

I have a (hardcopy) ANS V4 manual - but I wouldn't "give it up" for anything.
If you had specific questions, I could answer them (or even scan a page or 2)
but I don't know where you can get full documentation - and certainly not of V2.
(FYI, V2 was ANS'68 only as I recall. Either V3 or V4 added ANS'74 support)

P.S. Did you ever deal with Artur Reimann of IBM Germany? He might still have
some of the ancient COBOL manuals.

I've got a couple of manuals:
* VS COBOL II Application Programming: Language Reference
Program Product
Program Numbers: 5668-958, 5668-940
Release 1
IBM GC26-4047-1
Date of publication: December 1984

*IBM VS COBOL for OS/VS
Release 2.4
IBM GC26-3857-3
Fourth Edition August 1983

If you can use them, they're yours.
