We have a major project underway where we need to document a number of
large complex COBOL programs.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to "Reverse Engineer"
documentation from the source code.

What I had in mind was either flowcharts, or ultimately UML type
diagrams.

Check out Revolve from MicroFocus, it can analyze the whole system for
you.
