1] start cmd prompt
2] start your app typing app.exe name [not with shortcut from desktop]
3] wait untill app end with error
4] copy/paste that laste cmd screen with error printout here, error code
with text msg usualy helps

What version of Clipper do you have?

What RDD are you using in Clipper (DBFNTX, DBFCDX, or what)?

How many computers access the same files?

Does this happen daily, wly, or many times daily?

Did this start happening recently, or has it just been getting
worse and worse?

I would look to see that my Clipper was updated to the most
current version. I would make sure that the first computer that
accesses the various files each day, renews the indexes. I would
have Netware check its hard drives for hard disk errors.

It should then be updated to 5.2e, if you have not already done
so:
http://www.the-oasis.net/ftpmaster....tent=ftp_ca.htm
.... one of the first two patches.

This application that crashes only uses DBFNTX? Because they are
mutually incompatible drivers.

What changes have been implemented recently? New machines,
updated operating system, lots more seats running, is this a new
application (or module), or what...

I assume you have used rlock(), unlock, and commit as needed?
The others have asked for displayed error message as the
application terminates, and this will be helpful to you and them.

Depending on your third party libraries, you may want to let the
machines boot to Windows (or Linux with a little more effort),
and use:
http://www.xharbour.org
.... should be very few code changes, and you will have a native
32-bit application.
The commercial version at www.xharbour.com (xHarbour Builder) is
very good too.

what os?, is it win-xp?

anyway, are you able to see the last error screen when app ends?
these are few lines that appear above c:\ prompt on the screen

Michal,

Are there any large database files? Also, are ther any indexes with a large
index key or are indexed on a large field. In my experience if you index on
a large field or have a long index key, this can restrict the amount of
records that can be stored.

After the crash are the indexes corrupted?

it might end up that you might have to archive off some data to fix this

Regards,

Pete

I have changed computers to new architecture (AMD board) and recently
server to HP (last model HP supported to Netware 5.0)

I can't recompile programs because I haven't right to do this.

well, then for test purposes insert one "pause" in batch, just after
app.exe, and when app crashes, read that error info from the screen.
explain your usesrs that pressing "any key" to continue "pause" after ending
app is just temporarly

the other solution is to rebuild app with custom error sys, to record error
message into file

You changed server and I'm afraid you did NOT configure it properly. You
should search in the archive of Polish newsgroup pl.comp.sys.novell for
"turbodis" keyword.

You can patch the programs for R6003 error - look at the
