| Hi,
I just got my first Vista and loaded a good sized Clipper 5.2e /
Blinker 6.0 app. I noticed that it is low on ram. I use the memory(0)
at the top of my main menu to show free memory. It is only about 65Kb,
which is about 70Kb less than it usually is under XP. When I go to
command prompt and type mem /c, it shows that the LH programs
(MSCDEXNT, REDIR, and DOSX) from the autoexec.nt (these are identical
to XP) are not loading high. The mem /c only shows conventional
memory, and does not show the Upper Memory section. However, it does
say that MS-DOS is resident in High Memory. I don't know if what I'm
seeing under mem/c at the command prompt is what the clipper app sees,
but it seems likely to me that it is the same issue.
I have had similar low memory on XP before, but found that if I turn
off EMM on the startup icon the memory is good. Turning off EMM on the
Vista icon didn't help at all.
Has anyone had a chance to try similar stuff on a Vista, and/ot any
suggestions?
Thanks
Irv
