Author Testing application on a web cast

Hi guys, I need some help from anyone that would like to help me beta test
my web cast system. I have set up a complete in house encoder and server
for this webcast. The application is in dbase. It displays the scores of a
tournament in real time as they are entered on the network. It sorts them
by class and category, then displays the pages in a slide show type of
display. I broadcast this display locally at the tournament, but now am
looking to do a web cast broadcast so those that can not be at the
tournament can keep up with who is winning in real time.

This system is running on 4 different servers and as an added bonus, I have
added a radio station software package that plays in the background. I need
to see how well people from all over the country can get the stream. I have
links to the stream set up on my web site, but to make it easy, here are the
links:

http://www.rjstuart.com/live.asx This is the unicast format

http://www.rjstuart.com/station1.asx This is the multicast format

Please try both formats. Multicast uses less bandwidth but is less stable
and depending on your firewall or router, you may not be able to stream from
it. I have it set up to roll over to unicast on a multicast failure, but
that doesn't always work.

So far I have tested it with media player v9 and win amp v5.3

Please post here if you try it and what player you used, the version of the
player, operating system you are using, and results. Also what format you
streamed from.

This is a beat test so if you get a server error, it might be that I have
the server down as I try to tweak it.

Thanks allot.

Win XP Pro Service pack 1
WMP 10.00.00.4036
ATT DSL thru Linksys 4 Port router in SE Connecticut.
152K thruput

Tried both the Unicast and the Multicast. Got satisfatory results
regardless of
which version. Had occasional signal interruption lasting no more than
4-5 seconds.

Great job, Bob! I'm sure the fans unable to attend will be satisfied
with your efforts.

Thanks Sam.. Once I get more bandwidth here I hope to eliminate the
interruptions problem.

Bob,
Looks like you got some more bandwidth as tonight the thruput was 396K
Also was able to connect using my Win 98SE machine and Windows Media
6.0605.0217.

Sam, . I was hoping that win 98 was able to work. Sometimes those
older versions of windows can be cranky.
I did up the bandwidth some, opened up the throttle in my router. I also
increased the stream rate at the encoder.
Video is set for 273Kbps @ 15 FPS and I increased the audio to pro FM
stream rate of 128Kbps @ 48KHz
That should get more quality in the music. Next w I am going to add a
live cam as well. This is intended to allow views to watch some of the
championship events live. I ordered the web cams and should have them mid
w or so. I will put up a link when I get them online. You will get the
privilege of looking at my back yard and watch the dogs play for a beta
test.
