General Protection Fault in Module CLIPMDLL

| I've recently started getting the following error message everytime I
try to compile a program from my workbench...
CA-Clipper Workbench IDE Exception Handler
General Protection Fault in Module CLIPMDLL
CS:IP=0003:1467 SS:SP=1567:0114
Everytime it pops up, the only button available to click is "retry" and
when I do, the workbench closes on me.
The only thing I've been able to figure out on my own is that something
is in violation of a Protected Mode Programming Restriction. In the
past whenever I've had problems with Clipper that I was unable to
correct myself, I've just deleted my C:\CLIP53 directory and
reinstalled the application (v5.3) and patches (A & B) and started over
again, but that is not working this time.
I have reinstalled several times today. I've also tried modifying
environment settings & variables on my PC (Windows XP) countless times
to get this error message to stop. And still, I get the same error
message. I haven't had a single problem for the past several months,
then all of a sudden this!
If anyone out there has any insight or words of wisdom for me, I would
be forever grateful!
Respectfully yours,
Nellie

Nellie,
It is an oft documented fact that the CA IDE is broken and will never
be repaired. Suggest you put your energies into some other worthwhile
pursuit.
