I have run under DOSEMU on my old Linux box. Now it seems half the
world is running Linux. Is Flagship the best compiler for porting
Clipper apps to Linux? I use Clipper DBF and NTX.

Thanks

If this was 1985-86, there were a half dozen Clipper like compilers for
DOS. Rbase, DataFlex, Clarion and many other relational databases.
Q&A, PC-File, DataPerfect and many other flat file databases. All were
available at my local CompUSA.

How many PCs were in the world? 10 million?

Now look at Linux. How many worldwide desktops running Linux? Why is
there not the same level of development?

Mike

I have yet to see any Linux boxes on the desktop - we use
Debain servers running Samba which are great.

By the way you can use xHarbour to develop Linux
console applications and Fivetech have a GUI library
for Linux.

Cheers

Colin

Thanks Carlos, xHarbour was my first choice. It has been awhile and I
was just expecting more new Linux compilers/products. Maybe I am wrong
that Linux is gaining desktop numbers in the Middle East and even the
Far East.

May be you want to try:

http://www.itk.ru/english/index.shtml

This compiler is lightning fast and is FREE. It has excellent support.
I am porting some applications to Linux.
