The easiest way is to send $$$ to Acker Consulting, Inc.

( Sorry guys for the blatant advertising but couldn't resist the opportunity
<g>. )

Gunter,
There are a lot of factors to consider first before you ask that
question.... will the app be changing from character mode to full GUI. What
type of interface would you like? How much business logic is in the app.
Is your app single user or multi-user and what are the long term needs for
the app... i.e. will it need to be moved from single user to Lan, then to
Wan, then maybe web based?

There are many options when moving from DOS Clipper to Windows. All the
possible ways you can move your app to windows have pros and cons...but it's
hard to give advise without knowing more about your app and what you want to
end up with when it's done. Xbase++ is pretty good at just moving your
current app to win32 mode. ( not counting what if any third party libs your
app needs.... that that is always a factor ). If you are moving to GUI,
it's more involved... also the long tern stability of the company ( now
Alaska Research ) has been in question for a while now.

There are other "Clipper" options out there.... Harbour esp xHarbour has
been making great progress and is now I think the most active of the
"Clipper for Windows" bunch.. I'd look over your options with care if your
app needs to stick around for awhile. Invest the time before you make a
choice.... it could save you big time in the long run.

And back at you..."What is easier to learn to speak...German or
Arabic? It all depends doesn't it?

Change into Windows? Does that mean simply recompile as a 32 bit
console application? If yes, I would suggest that you use either of
the free Harbour or xHarbour tools.

If it is a GUI that you want, you could use the same compilers again
and combine it with the (also free) MiniGUI library. Obviously, a GUI
application will require some work on your part such as a redisgn of
the screen layouts, but the fundamental business rules of your
original application and much of the actual Clipper code can remain in
the background.

Yell out if you need more information.
