Hi, i'm changed some PCs on my net passing from Win 98 to Win XP, it seem to
be more slow, but the new hardware is faster then the old. I use Clipper
5.2e, Blinker 7.0 and SIXCDX. Any ideas?

Thanks

Marco,

What do you mean by "slow"? When?

Are you doing anything to release cpu cycles when your application is
idling?

hi,

how many RAM do you have using XP ? if less 512Mb XP will "Swap" to disk

did you "upgrade" or "fresh install" XP ? if you "upgrade" try "fresh
install"

what XP Version ? if "Pro", did you run "network service" ?

did you use "Blinker EMS ..." ? if yes, turn it into XMS

no no, turn it off if you do not have a network. turn off all net service
will
increase speed.

i try it again : did you use PAGEFRAME ON or BLINKER CACHE EMS
or UMB ON

if yes, be shure to have EMS in CMD/DOS else turn to XMS

When I changed some of my customers to W2K from 95/98 things did get
slightly slower, especially reading and writing to disk. The compensations
was that problems with data virtually dissapeared.

Reading and writing data is slower with W2K/XP than 95/98 but safer.
