Template Registry not Registering
|

| My name is Walt and we are using Clarion ver 6.3.9057. We are
developing using IBM laptops and PC's running under the Windows XP
2002 with SP 2 operating system. Version 6 has been installed on a
laptop used for development and I'm trying to get the Template
Registry to install new templates. I understand that the file that
should be opened in this situation is the CW.TPL file in the Templates
subdirectory. I've attempted this several times and the new features
aren't being written to the file. Do you have any info on this type
of problem?

You might want to go to the news.softvelocity.com newsgroup where there is a
LOT more activity and ask this question.

Registry file is not CW.TPL, but Registry.TRF
After copying new template into template folder go to Clarion IDE, into
Setup -> Template Registry -> Register and selest your template file...
If button Register is disabled, you should go to Setup -> Application
Options and change the checkbox "Open Dictionary files and Template
registry as Read-Only", after that restart Clarion and try again...
After doing that, your template is awailable for use in app...

Clarion for Windows 2.0 occasionally gets into a state where it ceases
to recognize changes to templates. When that happens, unregistering
all template sets and then reregistering them clears up the problem.
Whether this applies to your situation I have no idea.

I appreciate the thought. It sounded good to me so I tried it. The
result was that the templates I wanted to register no longer show up
and are gone from the list. Any idea?

First, my profound apologies for any problems this has caused you.
In Clarion for Windows 2.0, the "list" would be in the "Template File"
dialogue box, and would be a list of *.TPL files in the TEMPLATE
subdirectory. To register my templates, I have to change the
subdirectory to the one I created to put them in. This causes my *.TPL
files to appear, and also DPLHELP.TPL, which I downloaded long ago.
Of course, I have no idea how Clarion 6.3.9057 works. If it is
similar, you might want to determine just where you put the *.TPL (and
associated *.TPW) files, or whatever extensions it uses, and look
there. If it is completely different, then all I can do is repeat my
apology.

Not to worry. Thanks for the help. I appreciate it. We tried to
reinstall ver 6.3.9050 which is were we started and still don't see
them. We have to do some research and if we find the answer I can
forward.

I have to second that suggestion.
I know it may sound weird, it sounded weird to me too, but
comp.lang.clarion /on the softvelocity server/ is, indeed, far more
active than comp.lang.clarion on (for want of a better term) usenet.
Of course, you'd have to figure out how to point your newsreader at
that server.
