Author Insert date with Topspeed ODBC

I am trying to do a simple update on a date field using the Topspeed
ODBC drivers. Unfortunatley I have zero documentation for these drivers
and I believe they are some where around version 3. The field I am
inserting into is listed as DATE @D1.

sql: update ARRcptB set ReceiptDate = '7/06/06'

As far as I am aware this should work, but I keep getting and error
"Expected lexical element not found: <identifier>". I have tried
changing the delimiter, used double quotes, all sorts of weird
brackets, so on and so forth. Still no luck with the update.

If someone has any information that could help me that would be really
appreciated.
