Oracle connect error

| I am trying to connect to Oracle at a client site for the first time.
In our office the connection works fine. At the client, trace shows
this error.
0828H(2) 15:10:44.527 Version: 6.300.01.9051
0828H(1) 15:10:44.578 Connecting dext@dext Error:
0828H(1) 15:10:44.598 Return Code: -148220592 Time Taken:0.02 secs
0828H(2) 15:10:44.598 DisConnecting dext@dext Time Taken:0.00 secs
The login string is
dext/dext@dext
c6ee 6.3 9051
c6orax.dll dated 16 march 2006
any ideas?

| The user had upgraded Oracle on the server but the client software had
not been upgraded.
