I haven't been using C55EE with patch f for quite some time. The
problem is that it cannot start now. Previously it ran alright. The
error dialogbox is described below.

Caption: 16 bit Windows Subsystem
Message: The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. CS:05ea
IP:175b OP:fe e8 53 fe e9 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
Buttons: Close, Ignore

I know there are patch g and h, but due to some issues (in template,
etc.) we will not apply the patch g and h.

I am using Pervasive. And I have used Pervasive System Analyzer to
archive the Btrieve engine(C:\C55\Bin\Wbtrcall.dll). I am wondering if
there are some windows updates or some other software I have installed
on my machine that causes this problem.

My machine is a Intel P4 2.8G with 512 RAM, an average configuration.

Does anyone have any idea what the cause is? Or any way to investigate?

Thanks!
