Completely Dynamic Listbox Formatting?

The Point-of-Sale (POS) application Steve Parker manages allows users to
select subsets of inventory for a variety of purposes. These include
order recommendations, physical inventory, creating store-wide sales and
several other things. What started off as a reporting feature eventually
became a browse requirement. And that meant creating not just dynamic
filters, but dynamic list box formats.
