| Dear APL Friends
You are all invited to attend the APL-moot to be held between the 18th
to 20th of August 2006, at the Darby Green & Frogmore Social Hall.
(This is the same location as last years Moot.)
Full details are on the Vector web site
http://www.vector.org.uk/vol/moot.htm
As I will be providing some refreshments, it will help if I have a
rough idea about numbers, so please let me know if you think you might
come, but you will still be welcome if you just turn up at the moot.

FAQ
What is a moot?
A moot is a gathering of like-minded people to discuss a common
interest.
What is an APL- moot?
A gathering of APLer's, out to have fun discussing APL. Its like an APL
conference without the boring parts (Papers, Formal Presentations, Time
Tables, Conference Chairs, Committees etc)
What's it cost?
Only your time and travelling/food/drink expenses. There is NO entrance
cost.
What should I bring?
Most importantly yourself. Your laptop (or even desktop if coming by
car). Something to "Show and Tell" (not a requirement). A
bed-roll/sleeping-bag if you intend to stay the (Friday or Saturday)
night in the hall. Any comforts you cant live without, favourite
snacks/junk food.
Why should I come?
To meet old friends, make new friends and have fun chatting about APL.

| I will be showing my 4th.CoSy , Reva FORTH based APL .
It has much functionality derived from K with perhaps its most unique
new feature being modulo indexing which makes all arrays conformable .
All of the hairy recursive APL operators on nested reference counted
arrays are done and the system probably supplies the most powerful
array vocabulary ever available in FORTH and is quite useful at this
level .
The TUI ( textual user interface ) and K-tree dictionary and APL syntax
evaluation level are rudimentary at this point and I hope to generate
some interest among the brilliant people who will make it to the Moot
to contribute their own brains to flesh out some of these areas .
More details are in my recent newsletter http://cosy.com/y06/NL0607.htm
, and at http://cosy.com/CoSy/ where you can also download the code and
see one way to build an APL vocabulary . Ask any questions or volunteer
to attack any of the many bits and pieces still to finish at the forum
I just set up at http://www.cosy.com/Forum/ .
The APL world now has an advanced , free , open code ( in fact
interactive FORTH based ) APL to stear people to . It's only "downside"
for teaching APL is that it is not as complicated .
Looking forward to an interesting w end on the 18th .
