| Earlier This year, APL Quote Quad (Volume 34, Number 1) was
published by ACM without use of the proper fonts. After working
with ACM staff and the printer, I have managed to arrange for
reprinting of this issue as it was originally submitted.
ACM changed several aspects of the submission and publication
process without providing adequate, prior, and acknowledged
notice. I am in the midst of defining and reviewing a new ver-
sion of this process, which will be documented and handed for-
ward to the new Publications Group. They will then take over
the production of APL Quote Quad; my attention will move on
to some other matters.
Becuase of the nature of this problem, The reprinting and distri-
bution of APL Quote-Quad will take placewithout any chage to SIGAPL
or its membership. ACM is sending out postcards to anyone who was
mailed the original issue, explaining the problem and properly
taking responsibility for this unfornate situation.
I am s ing other ways that ACM can make amends for this whole
business, so I ask you what you may consider appropriate as a
way to help SIGAPL recover from what has happened. I look forward
to seeing something from you.
