Simple word processor / form letter component

Hi,
I'm looking for recommendations for a simple word processor / form
letter component that I can include in my application. It should
support headers+footers, pagination, fixed positioning of some text
items, print preview and so on and be able to save letters as
templates so I can substitute values at runtime. Using/supporting the
1.4 printing API would be a nice bonus. I've been looking for a little
while and cannot find anything suitable, free or commercial - perhaps
I don't know the right words to put into a google search...

A possible solution is to use MS Word templates and drive the
substitution and printing using a Java-COM bridge (such as Jacob) but
I'd prefer not to tie myself into Word if there's any alternative.
