Honestly in the long run I don't know if it will be a good or bad thing, but very apprehensive about
it. I make my living programming PHP and I like the fact it's open source and not dependant on MS
platforms. Even though I do use XP as my primary home OS and develop all code on my home machine
with XAMP, then upload all my work to Linux/Unix/Solaris servers. I've done things this way for 6
years now and everything is great and efficient, but now that they have a partnership - what does
that mean? How is MS going to control and manipulate things? They have a habit of taking over
smaller companies and screwing things up-badly. Does this mean that MS will eventually force ISP's
to licence PHP? I don't trust MS. Nothing good ever lasts. Does this mean the floodgates are now
open and huge corporations are going to form partnerships with other popular open source apps and
ruin open source? I hope not.
