is it possible to assign to a field of an object? (member variable, or
rather array variable).

ie use dot syntax in an assign?

{if $btn.over eq 'path' } // works ok
{assign var='btn.over' value=$btn.path}

over={$btn.over}

doesnt seem to make the assignment. btn.over is still "path"
