ReiserFS performs very good with lots of small files.

| I would second that on Reiser. Ext3 is prob. best for stability (not
that Reiser is going to crash every day) but for small file access
Reiser definetly kills ext3 off.

| Another idea would be to move to an SQL based cache assuming you have
a beefy DB server.
