One question, why do you not use go-pear.phar for go-pear.org? and for
pear.php.net/go-pear? (the same file).
I do not see a point to maintain go-pear.php if phar is working.

phar works on PHP 5.1.0+, so go-pear.php is still good. If we can get a
non-phar-based single file install, that would be fine too.
