As long as they don't include illegal characters ;) But I guess we might
as well use the numeric values anyway - for forward compatibility. Who
knows when we'll switch to unicode. But I guess we can deal with that
when it comes up. Right now, I don't see any need for unicode, so I'd
don't think there should be a hard rule just yet.
