Anatoly,
Don't complain about us not having a windows installer. Ideally, we
should have a windows installer that includes PEAR_Frontend_Gtk, but we
don't. Also, why should we be so nice to people if not even PHP has a
good installer? (I know there's one for the CGI version, which is fine
and good to an extent - but I use apache2.) If someone were so kind as
to create an installer for us and to write a brief step-by-step process
how to package a new release, that would be . But don't forget that
the only thing we would be installing is the basic pack - what go-pear
installs.
We don't want to have to change the pack every time a new release
happens. That's one major difference between us and traditional software
companies. They release their stuff in one shot, then wait to update the
components until there's enough stacked up to make a new version worth
their while. I suppose it's partly because of the hassle required when
you have to update the install scripts, etc.
Greg, you've got a lot of things going, and at the moment so do I. Else
I'd be very happy to help set up an installer (which would require I dig
into the internals of some installer, as I wouldn't be able to set it up
with my current knowledge). But as 1.4.0 is coming out soon (hopefully
this year ;), it probably wouldn't make sense to create the installer
until then.

Just to let you know, of the 620 unit tests, 617 pass on my gentoo box
(3 skipped), and 615 pass on my windows box (2 failed, 1 expected
failure, 2 skipped)
I need to write a few more tests and make sure pecl junk works on
gentoo, and then we will be ready for the first real round of tests.
So, yes, it will be out this year, maybe even this month :). Of course,
you probably meant the stable version. This will not appear until the
web installer, gtk installer, and other associated packages all work
with it, and there is documentation of new features, so a few more
months and it will be ready.
