mod_php is to php as mod_perl is to perl. To draw some degree of
similarity one would say Pear is to PHP as CPAN is to Perl.

But what is mod_php? Is that the php runing from apache?
I think that is the way php exists:)

Yes. 'mod' refers to it being an apache module. PHP alone can be run from=
=20
the command line (CLI) or tied in to a webserver as CGI. mod_php is the=20
preferred (and probably most popular way) to run PHP in conjunction with a=
=20
webserver.
