Hi,

The SDPHPUG has reformed but the www.sdphp.net site is not being
administered (evidenced by the last post was 9/2004) so us members have
moved over to www.sdphp.com. Can you please update the link on the events
pages?

Thank you,
Kawika Ohumukini

Hi,

Since sdphp.net hosts a poll dated very recently, I doubt there is no
activity there:

Now what is the real situation?

Since logic seems in short supply here I guess I'll have to spell it out for
you.

Reality #1:
You should notice that the poll was done within the last 2 days and nothing
has happened before that all the way back to September 2004. Someone who
thinks one member, not an admin, poll with no meetings, posts, or meaningful
mailgroup exchange in 12 months is a functioning group then they might want
to reconsider their standards, they're way too low. You can check out the
new polls at the www.sdphp.com, register, go to member polls.

Reality #2:
21 members, the most active members included, have moved to the new web site
(www.sdphp.com) and maillist (ask for yourself at group-subscribe@sdphp.com
and enter the SDPHPUG reality). When a group can't get 3 people to show up
to a meeting in 1 year and 21 of the prospective attendees jump ship to a
new organization then that pretty much buries the old carcass.

Reality #3:
You could use your powers of investigation to contact the old list admin
(good luck he's gone) or the domain admin (again good luck he's gone to) or
ask on the old maillist (as long as you don't mind getting the occasional
phishing message and persistent bounced messages everytime you post).

When Logic Is Gone
If you still want to keep a dead group listed that's your business. If
that's the case then please forward instructions to getting listed on your
calendar page as the new and much improved only active san diego PHP user
group and we can all get back to work.

Is that real enough for you?

Cheers,
Kawika Ohumukini

Please stop abusing Gabor. He asked a simple question.

Dear Kawika Ohumukini,

Since I live in Hungary, I am not well informed on the situation in San
Diego. If this is surprising, so excuse me.

Since both the content on sdphp.com and the (seemingly reform oriented)
poll on sdphp.net is recent, it is not easy without further
investigation to decide what is happening. I am as always trying to
protect the existance of already established entities. Do you think that
if someone comes around with a newly registered name (let's say
sdphp.org) next time, from an email address similar to "Post Admin
<post01@rgrwilco.com>", then it is obvious that the request is good
intentioned?

Being the new leader of the group, would you like to get in contact with
someone, who blindly does what he is asked for, or with someone who
tries to find the logic and the reasons?

Since our event system needs a contact email address and a date for
events, and your site shows that the date is not yet found, plus that
you have not provided a contact email address, I cannot modify the event
without leaving it in an incosistent state. Please either specify a
contact email address, so I can modify the event, and leave the date
temporarly, until you find out something about it. Or you can submit a
new event with a date specified, and then I can approve it, and remove
the existing one.

Regards,
Gabor Hojtsy
