| First books on PHP 5 at Galileo Computing
The first books on PHP 5 are now published by Galileo Computing
(http://www.galileocomputing.de/). Three books and a training CD
provide you with all you need to change over to the new version
of PHP. There is something here for those new to programming and
those changing over, as well as those already familiar with PHP 4
and professionals.
The "Introduction to PHP 5" by Thomas Theis is aimed at those new
to programming and beginners. With almost 600 pages, this book
explains the fundamentals of PHP 5 and MySQL with the aid of
numerous examples. The CD-ROM contains the official German PHP
manual, sample programming and solutions. The PHP reference card,
containing the most important instructions, offers a quick overview.
"PHP 5 - What's New" is aimed at experienced PHP 4 programmers who
only need to be updated on the new possibilities and features of
PHP 5. With just under 200 pages, it deals with object-orientation,
libxml2, gd-lib and stream functions, among other things.
The book "Better PHP Programming" can be used with all versions.
Advanced and amateur programmers and those changing over can all
learn to become professional programmers: programming style,
modularization, program structure, PEAR and Smarty, documentation
and annotation for software, and questions of performance and
security are all included in the syllabus.
And for the first time with this program, there is also the first
training CD for programmers: "Introduction to PHP 5 and MySQL" offers
a new way to learn a programming language. The basics of Web server
programming with PHP and MySQL are provided in a clear, descriptive
way. No previous programming knowledge is assumed.
The training manuals include everything from installation and set up,
to basic knowledge and new features, through practical examples,
exercises and chapters for advanced developers.
The final release of PHP 5 will be launched soon. So its high time
you found out about the new possibilities and features offered by
PHP 5!
Please note that the books are published in german language.
