I have problem with the installation of PHP5 on SO Window XP and II5

I started with the manual installation on window and then wondered on the
FAQ pages of the www.php.net site.
I tried to apply several solution advised by some users but the result is
that I wrote a PHP page <?php phpinfo()?>
I copied it on my PHPtest directory under inetpub/wwwroot and I have
always the same 404 error.

I installed PHP under c:/PHP
the page is on the directory: c:\inetpub\wwwroot\PHPtest\info.php

reading the FAQ or installation hints there is a big mess because people
says copy the ini under the system directory someone else says don't do it
....
can I have the solution based on my environment (PHP5+XP+II5)?

ps:php is well-installed because if I launch the php -i command I have all
the information
it means that something is wrong in the server configuration!!

Last question:
the manual installation says that with II6 I can choice to work on the CGI
way or ISAPI the choice is exclusive?

Thank you
