New Comment:

But are you using the normal or the extended chm version?

And did you read our warning about Windows XP that is in the downloads
page?
quoting:
"If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer under Windows XP SP2 or
later and you are going to download the documentation in CHM format,
you should "unblock" the file after downloading it, by right-clicking
on it and selecting the properties menu item. Then click on the
'Unblock' button. Failing to do this may lead to errors in the
visualization of the file, due to a Microsoft bug."

I installed the documentation (.chm file downloaded from your site)and
setup as per the instruction on your site and the syntax error
mentioned keeps appearing each time I go into the help and on all
subsequent clicks on links in the help files.

I have tried both setting up in Editplus and PHPIDE and both produce
the same error.

I can reproduce this every time and can supply screen prints if that
moght help (need an email to send to if that is required).

What help do you mean, what exactly did you get and where (URL,
please)?
