Comparing multiple files

Hi there I am writing a script which copies a number of XML files (depending how many there are in the folder) to another location, however I need to compare the size or content of each copied file to ensure they are exactly the same (in case the copying them across the network has resulted in some loss in the file content) I need help in writing the script where this compare of each file is done, any help/examples or suggestion will be most welcomed.
