The International Conference on Agile Processes in Software Engineering
and eXtreme Programming, XP2007, is the leading world event on the
topics of agility in software and system development, now at its eighth
edition.
The agile approach has become mainstream in the software industry in
recent years. It is able to deliver business value early in the project
lifetime and to successfully deal with changing requirements. It
focuses
on the delivery of running, tested versions of the system at a constant
pace, featuring a continuous interaction with customers, and paying
extreme attention to the human component of software development.
A rapidly growing scientific and practical evidence show many quality
gains including increased productivity, less defects and increased
customer satisfaction.

Agile innovations are currently moving into new domains, such as the
embedded development industry, safety-critical products and offshore
development. Movement towards business agility is also emerging in the
field.
XP2007 offers a unique forum for executives, managers, software
professionals and researchers from labs and academia to meet together
and discuss their needs and ideas for incorporating agile methodologies
into the production models.

The conference is not about a single methodology, but rather provides a
forum for the exchange of information regarding all agile development
methods, practices and tools. XP 2007 facilitates the exchange of ideas
in a number of ways, including high-profile keynote speakers on the
cutting edge of the Agile Processes, technical presentations, special
activity sessions, panels, posters, code camps, workshops, tutorials,
and other opportunities to exchange and elaborate the new findings. XP
2007 also features a PhD Symposium for PhD students.

CONFERENCE SCOPE

The conference brings together both industrial practitioners and
researchers. The topics will stress practical applications and
implications
of agile methodologies. New openings, domains and insights are highly
appreciated. The topics of interest in the conference include, but are
not
restricted to, the following:

- Foundations and rationale for agile methods
- Case studies, empirical experiments and practitioners' experience
reports
- Organizational change, management and organizational issues
- Digital ecosystems and agility
- Commitment, motivation and culture in an Agile SW development
organization
- Agile development in the large scale including the scalability issues
- Education and training
- Combining industry quality standards (e.g., CMMI) and Agile
approaches
- Experimenting with agile practices: Pair programming, test-first
design, continuous integration, refactoring, etc.
- Agile SW development tools and environments
- Agile development of Open Source software
- Agile offshore and distributed development
- Tailoring and building of agile processes
- Combining or streamlining the Business processes and Agile SW
development
- Business agility
- Embedded software (e.g., SW/HW co-design) and Agile SW development
- Contracting processes and issues, including subcontracting
- Metrics, automated metrics and analysis
