Job Description
Consultant will be expected to perform complex computer information
systems analysis and design work working with internal clients to
support new and existing data reporting requirements from PeopleSoft
on-line applications within the PeopleSoft Student Administration,
Finance & Human Resources systems. Incumbent must also be equipped to
act as technical and/or functional lead on assigned projects.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other
duties may be assigned.

Analyze existing reports and recommend enhancements for efficiency and
effectiveness.

Troubleshoot code and data errors, run data traces to diagnose and
pinpoint problems, and rewrite programs to correct errors.

Design, code and implement new or revised reporting methods that more
effectively meet departmental and institutional needs.

Apply Application Development Project Management methodologies to all
assigned projects.

Prepare any requested/required charts, diagrams and tables that help
to assist in depicting report results.

Prepare, where necessary, Business Process diagrams and other
information that portrays the movement of work through the
organizational elements.

Formulate logical descriptions of problems and devises optimum
solutions.

Monitor and assist in facilitating the progress of assigned projects.

Provide regular updates on projects status and on requirements for
additional implementations of new functionality and enhancements.

Coordinate with other Information Technology personnel, consultants
and other external resources to ensure efficient and effective
resource utilization.
Monitor the interface of systems/subsystems and software applications
associated with reporting activities.

Evaluate and recommend action on testing and implementation of
reporting activity.

Recommend and provide specifications for requirement gaps, interfaces,
enhancements and workflow.

Analyze technology needs for business reporting tasks.

Monitor progress of project(s) against approved plans and schedules.

Research and recommend appropriate hardware, software and network
solutions pertaining to application area of responsibility.

Off-hour support may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The
qualifications listed below are representative of the education,
experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science or Engineering required.
Eight (8) years of directly related work experience may be substituted
in lieu of the degree requirement.

EXPERIENCE
Experience in programming, systems analysis and design work, with a
minimum of eight (8) years of recent experience in computer, business
and administrative technology relevant to this position required.

Coding and design experience is required.

Experience with Oracle or other relational database management system
is required.

Experience in UNIX, Windows 2000 or higher and HTML is preferred.

Experience in implementation of automated information systems and
leading projects from a technical perspective is highly desirable.

Experience in implementing/supporting PeopleSoft 8.0 system modules or
greater is required.

Work experience in a higher education institution or community college
environment is preferred.
