| Sr. Java Web Developer
Location: Toronto
Position: Permanent
Our client is looking for a Senior Java Web Developer for their office
located in Toronto.
Description
The candidate will be required to use leadership skills and technical
expertise to design, plan, develop and successfully implement new software
products and enhancements to existing products. The ideal candidate
will enjoy the rush of working under tight timelines and cost restrictions
and will possess confidence and creative problem solving skills.
Responsibilities
Strategic:
*Determine platform, architecture and strategy for projects
*Investigate and develop new technologies
*Continue with established and adaptive technology, establishing infrastructure
strategies that set direction based on current business needs and
technology trends
*Serve as one of the key leaders in communicating technology strategies,
directions, goals, and progress to client business units, application
development, management and partners
*Share responsibility for managing design, development, testing and
maintenance of all architectural components and standards
*Instill operational excellence in testing, maintaining, monitoring
and controlling
business critical production systems with high availability
Day to Day:
*Develop an effective management oversight and relationship with outsourced
vendors
*Development of project specifications, documentation and timelines.
Prioritize
project work and support activities
*Design, code, test and document software components
*Manage R&D initiatives
*Procure hardware and software needed for development
*Ensure QA process is followed
Requirements
Experience:
*3-5 years of hands-on programming experience
*2 years in position as development team lead
*Developed and managed high traffic we based JSP applications
*Quality assurance
*Kiosk and data management
*Digital imaging applications
Technology Skills - Core:
*Programming languages: Java, J2EE, C++
*JSP, ASP
*Oracle, SQL Server 2000 (T-SQQL/PLSQL)
*Software Development Cycle
*Data Management (XML)
*Operating Systems: Windows 2000, 2003, Linux, Solaris
Technology Skills - Additional:
*Quality Assurance experience
*Flash Actionscript
IT Management Skills:
*Network data center (monitor, hardware, software, usage, troubleshoot)
*Hardware and software procurement, QA processes
*Office network
*Kiosk deployment support
*Ensure company standards are created and followed
Education:
*University degree in computer science or computer engineering
