| The Environment
The systems environment at our client is a combination of mainframe,
Client Server and web based
technologies. The mainframe environment consists of MVS, CICS, COBOL,
MQ Series, and
PMS application. The Client Server and Web based infrastructure include
AIX, NT, Oracle, Cognos,
SQL, WebSphere, Data Warehousing, and Lotus Notes.

Specialist with business
intelligence, reporting and data warehousing experience working in
an AIX Oracle and Windows
NT Cognos environment with operational data sourced primarily from
a mainframe MVS environment.
Responsibilities
Assists the AVP Solutions Architecture in defining the architectural
direction for our client
Defines the appropriate business architecture under which The Client
Solutions will be developed.
This includes all issues related to the design of robust scalable applications
and their integration
with other systems. Works with business and the IS community to maximize
the integration of
customer-facing applications with back office processes.
o Assists IS in understanding and defining solutions that respond
to business strategies.
o Reviews the business architecture and business process designs.
o Represents the overall best interests of the client with respect
to product design while working
within the product development life cycle.
o Performs reviews of all system analysis tasks associated with the
architecture and design of
insurance systems to produce final products.
o Evaluates products against business specifications to determine
optimum solution for the
organization.
o Conducts investigations at the strategic and general feasibility
level to determine the most effective
use of company resources.
o Provides coaching, mentoring and consulting to junior staff and
reviews the work of other architects
to ensure quality consistency and adherence to functional and corporate
standards.
o Provides significant input into the testing of standards, policies
and procedures for the analysis
and quality assurance process to ensure the consistency, maintainability
and quality of the end product.
o Identifies opportunities for Information services to ensure high
quality in all deliverables and
continuous improvement in application development.
Additional Requirements
o Minimum - seven years progressive experience in Information Services,
five years experience in
business analysis or business architecture.
o Demonstrated ability in leading business process engineering and
business process integration in
a large financial organization, or business architect in a small
to mid-sized software company.
o Ability to evaluate the design and development of business processes
and application workflow.
o Expert level in understanding business processes and approaches
o Experience in modeling and analyzing complex business processes
and their relationships
o Exposure to applications employing web, mainframe and client -server
technologies
o Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
o Ability to work with abstractions as well as complete information
o Ability to view and reconcile issues from multiple dimensions including
technical business short term
and long term
o Excellent interpersonal skills positive attitude facilitation and
consensus building
o The ability to plan and organize effectively
o A flexible and adaptable team player that is service oriented.
Education:
o Minimum - Three-year college diploma in business/computer related
field or equivalent experience.
