| This position is for an Intermediate/Senior level SoC Validation Engineer
with at
least 5 years ASIC systems design or verification experience and familiarity
with
Systems on Chip (SoC) architectures. There is a requirement to be familiar
with
microprocessor instruction sets, systems blocks, and video / graphics
image
processing functions. The work will require the candidate to have knowledge
of
how software integrates into the SoC architecture such as boot code,
software
stacks, device drivers; familiarity with Verilog/VHDL simulation tools,
and
testbench design; assembler programming languages, C or C++; Perl or
other
scripting languages would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
The primary role of the Validation Engineer will be to lead the design
validation
tests and participate in the performance testing of Prototype using
specialized
equipment to achieve the following:
Verify that the prototype ASIC meets specified design requirements
Measure the prototype ASIC operating and performance characteristic
under
multiple operating conditions
Assist the software development and applications teams to verify correct
programming of the ASIC
Required Skills / Background:
Experience with ASIC architecture and software infrastructure in preparation
for
prototype ASIC test planning
Experience in architecting ASIC validation tests to verify chip functionality,
measurement of ASIC performance, and determine test criteria for such
ASIC
experience designing and writing software to perform specific ASIC
validation
tests
Be knowledgeable in performing tests using a video generator, scope,
logic
analyzer, thermal chamber, and/or video display panels
Be able to record test results and determine whether the ASIC passes
or fails test
criteria
Assist the applications engineering team to develop specialized software/
hardware diagnostic and tools
Work with software, hardware, and ASIC teams to specify future designs
Experience ( 5 years or more) testing, evaluating, and documenting
results for
ASIC components in a lab environment
Show leadership or team leading capability for a team made up of various
skills
and experience
Solid hardware, software, and systems debugging skills
Embedded software design in C or Assembly code knowledge
Exposure to video systems and standards
Experience configuring and operating an oscilloscope, logic analyzer,
video
generator or analyzer
Hardware system board design and/or test
Video systems design or test
5 years+ workplace related experience designing ASICs would be ideal

Educational Requirements:
B.Sc. Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
(or equivalent)
